Colonel Edward J. Schierberl III

Col. Edward J. Schierberl is the Vice Commander of the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio. The wing is comprised of nearly 1400 Air Force Reserve members and is equipped with eight C-130H2 aircraft. The wing trains and employs the C-130 Hercules globally on medium-range airlift, tactical airland and airdrop, Modular Aerial Spray System, and Aeromedical Evacuation missions.

Col. Schierberl commissioned in the United States Air Force through Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps upon graduation from the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash. He has served in the Air Force for nearly 23 years, with ten years in the Air Force Reserve. As an instructor and evaluator in the KC-135, he flew operationally then served in both the Formal Training Unit and Weapons Instructor Course passing on his operational knowledge. He later served at the Pentagon as a planner working with the Headquarters Air Force staff to balance mission sets among the regular Air Force, Air Reserve, and Air National Guard components, to help ensure readiness for future conflicts. Additionally, he spent seven years as an instructor flying C-40Cs supporting our nation’s leaders and dignitaries in worldwide engagements.

In addition to his Air Force assignments, Col. Schierberl has seven overseas deployments, to include deploying to support NATO as a lead Air-to-Air Refueling Planner for Operation Unified Protector. His NATO and international experience continued by serving as an Air Force Reserve representative to the NATO Confederation of Interalliance Reserve Officers for two years. He was also the Air Force Reserve Representative to the Air Refueling Advisory Group International from 2012-2020. Prior to his current assignment, the colonel served as the Air Force Reserve Advisor to the Commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
