Senior Airman Lamont Hicks Jr., 910th Airlift Wing commander’s support staff, was awarded the "The First Tree of Christmas" in a ceremony held in the USO of Northern Ohio’s lounge here, Dec. 6, 2019.

The 910th Airlift Wing distributed free live Christmas trees to Reserve Citizen Airmen, Marines and Sailors assigned to YARS during the installation’s December Unit Training Assembly.

Two hundred and fifty trees were donated by Trees for Troops. Each tree came with an American Flag Christmas ornament donated by FirstEnergy Corps.

"The trees were delivered all the way from Nova Scotia and Maine in the spirit of giving, the spirit of service and spirit of Christmas," said Jim Naughton, the director of Airman and Family Readiness at YARS. "Your community supports you one hundred and ten percent here in the Mahoning Valley, Trumbull county and tricounty area, and we wish you a safe and happy holiday season."

The Trees for Troops Foundation, which exists under the Christmas Spirit Foundation, donates Christmas trees to service members stationed around the world. Trees for Troops received a donation from FirstEnergy Corp., making the 250-tree delivery to YARS possible.
