9/9/2012 - YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio  -- Members of the 910th Airlift Wing Air Force Falcons softball team presented the USO of Northern Ohio's Commander's Softball Cup trophy to Col. Reinhard Schmidt, 910th Airlift Wing commander, Sept. 8, 2012 during a wing-wide commander's call here.

The team won the tournament, which was held in Garfield Heights, marking the third straight year the 910th Airmen and civilians were victorious.

"We are also the first team to 'three-peat'; win the championship three years in a row," said Chief Master Sgt. Paul J. Wagner, quality assurance superintendent with the 910th Maintenance Group.

Eight other teams battled the Falcons for the coveted trophy.

"We defeated all our opponents in less than seven innings and by the run rule," Wagner said. "In the championship game we faced the Army Guard from Canton. We were down 6-2 in the bottom of the third. In the next two innings we erupted for 14 runs to win the Championship game by ten runs."

The softball team's main focus was not on winning; the team was built around camaraderie.

"We are like brothers," said Airman 1st Class Stephen Dezsi, 910th Communications Squadron knowledge operations manager. "We like to joke around and have fun, but when there's a mistake, obviously we make our jokes, but in the end, it's a learning experience."

The wing commander received the game ball and trophy and both will be on display in the headquarters building.
