YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio – Air Force Reserve Master Sgt. Sam Phillippi, crew chief of 910th Airlift Wing Tail 3021, a C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft, motions to a tow motor driver in a maintenance hangar during flight preparations here, March 3, 2014. The tow motor is pushing Tail 3021 out of the hangar and will maneuver the aircraft onto the air station flightline as it is prepared to depart here for the final time. The C-130 is to being transferred to Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. as part of recent Air Force structure changes. Hitesman and his family visited YARS at the request of Crossroads Hospice in Green, Ohio as part of the facility’s Gift of a Day program. The program is designed to ask terminal patients, “How do you envision your perfect day?” The hospice then strives to create that image and make it a special day for the patient and their family. YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio – The mayor’s visit to YARS concluded with a guided tour of the wing’s one-of-a-kind mission. Air Force Reserve Senior Master Sgt. Phil Aliberti, 910th Aerial Spray Maintenance Chief, shows one of the nozzles used in the wing’s aerial spray missions to Mayor John McNally (left), of the nearby City of Youngstown, at the Aerial Spray Facility here during an installation visit, Jan. 17, 2014. The nozzle Sergeant Aliberti is holding is part of the Modular Aerial Spray System (MASS). The MASS is used to carry out the unit’s unique capability. The 910th Airlift Wing is home to the Department of Defense’s only aerial spray squadron. The mayor visited YARS to learn more about the wing’s mission and the installation’s features firsthand as well as meet some of the Citizen Airmen assigned here.
