YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio – A large pile of toys waits to be sorted at the Navy and Marine Center here, Dec. 9, 2011. The toys have been collected through the efforts of the 910th Airlift Wing and the Marine Corps Reserve unit based here as part of the annual Toys for Tots program. The goal of the program is to collect new, un-wrapped toys for area boys and girls (newborn through 16 years of age) in order to provide a gift for Christmas morning that the children might otherwise not receive. YARS experiences warm autumn while preparing for holiday season
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- Unseasonably warm temperatures, rain showers, peaks of sunshine and a rare autumn rainbow seen outside the main gate, Nov. 29, gave those assigned here a break from the typically cold and snowy conditions that Northeast Ohio during this time of year. Despite the reprieve from the season's usual weather, YARS personnel are busily preparing for the upcoming holidays with events such as the annual Toys for Tots campaign and an after-hours holiday wreath decorating class held at the YARS community Activity Center. 910th Airlift Wing conducts 45th 'Pilot for a Day' program
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- Air Force Reserve Col. Dale Andrews (right), commander of the 910th Maintenance Group, swears in 15-year old Connor Covan, of nearby Boardman, Ohio, as an honorary second lieutenant as part of the wing's 45th Pilot for a Day (PFAD) program held here, August 10, 2011. Connor is currently receiving treatment for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Brugada Syndrome at Akron Children's Hospital of the Mahoning Valley, also in Boardman. YARS to add rooms with Phase Two of lodging project
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- The 910th Airlift Wing is hosting a construction project that will add an 80-room wing to the Eagle's Nest Lodge here. The project officially known as Phase Two will enable the 910th Force Support Squadron to better serve their large customer base consisting of 910th Citizen Airmen, other Servicemembers and visitors to YARS. 910th cuts ribbon at new Community Activity Center
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- A group of dignitaries, including 910th Airlift Wing commander, Col. Fritz Linsenmeyer (fifth from left) and Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) Deputy Chief of Services, Mr. Alan Ray (fourth from left) prepare to cut the ceremonial ribbon, officially opening the new Community Activity Center (CAC) here, May 14, 2011. YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- This is the third of three photos showing the successful test of a Hgh-Speed Deluge System mounted above a work table in a muntions processing building here, March 24. The elapsed time between the first and thrid photos is approximately 100 milliseconds, or one-tenth of a second. In this third photo, water continues to pour from the deluge system to completely extinguish the test heat source. The system, the first of its kind installed on an U.S. Air Force installation, is designed to react to an extreme heat source on the table within one hundred milliseconds, or one-tenth of a second, by spraying approximately 300 gallons of water onto the table to extinguish any accidental ignition of munitions to protect personnel and property.
