Provided by local charity Mission of Love, the items are scheduled to be shipped via a KC-10 provided by the 514th Air Mobility Wing, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. The mission was arranged using the Denton program, which allows private U.S. citizens and organizations to use space available on U.S. military cargo planes to transport humanitarian goods, such as clothing, food, medical and educational supplies, and agricultural equipment and vehicles, to countries in need.

The 910th Airlift Wing here is hosting approximately 50 JROTC cadets from Ohio high schools for a 5-day encampment June 22-26. The cadets are ninth through 12th grade students at John Marshall and East Technical High Schools in Cleveland; Green High School in Uniontown; and Trumbull Career and Technical Center in Warren. Approximately 19 Youngstown Air Reserve Station Sailors, Marines and Airmen volunteered to teach the youth leadership, teamwork, respect for others, and the Air Force core values through mentorship training, workshops, physical fitness, and drill and ceremony exercises. Technical Sgt. Tom Kocis, an aerial spray maintainer with the 910th Airlift Wing, recieved the Ohio State Highway Patrol Certificate of Recognition, Tuesday, May 17. On February 28, 2011, Sgt. Kocis waded through frigid chest-high water to rescue a 71-year-old woman from her vehicle. The woman lost control of her vehicle on a flooded highway and drove into a ditch. Ohio State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Brian Holt, Warren Post Commander, presented the away on behalf of Colonel John Born, Superintendent of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Cindy Cox, a Life Support Equipment Technician with the 910th Airlift Wing, helps 11 year-old Ashley Moorhead of Warren, climb into a life raft during her visit to the life support repair shop.  Ashley was sworn in as an honorary Air Force Reserve 2nd Lieutenant and Pilot for a Day May 4, 2011, when she visited the air station for an exciting schedule of events. Ashley is currently receiving treatment for Cerebral Palsy at Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley. The purpose of the Pilot for a Day program is to reach out to the community by providing a fun-filled day of activities to children who live with a chronic or life-threatening disease or illness. The Youngstown Air Reserve Station Base-Community Council is the financial co-sponsor of the program.  As part of the program, children are selected to visit the base, receive a genuine aircrew flight suit and other mementos as well as receive an enlightening tour of the base.  Included as part of the tour are a visit to the Life Support shop, firing the Fire Arms Training Simulator, a ride on a base fire truck and being taxied aboard a million C-130 Hercules aircraft down the runway.
