YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio --

The Lt. Col. H. James English Memorial Fitness Center has officially reopened since its closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, the fitness center resumed it’s normal hours of operation, to include self-service Common Access Card access during unstaffed hours; Monday through Friday, 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. with certain restrictions in place.

Masks are required while not actively engaging in exercise.

The racquetball courts, saunas and basketball will continue to be prohibited until further notice; however, locker rooms and showers will be available for use.

“The fitness center manager, Luke Christy, worked closely with Public Health to develop several courses of action to ensure a safe and effective environment for Airmen to resume fitness on base,” says Lt. Col. Scott Julian, the commander of the 910th Force Support Squadron. “We believe that if Airmen adhere to these new guidelines then we can effectively operate the Fitness Center continuously and safely through the duration of the pandemic. We are extremely happy to be open again.”

Though the gym has reopened, Youngstown Air Reserve Station remains closed to all non-essential personnel.
