Master Sgt. Lori Delillo, Green Dot facilitator and 910th Operations Group Executive Administrator, led the latest session of Green Dot training here, Nov. 5, 2016.

The non-profit Green Dot, Inc., is a community-based initiative the Air Force embraced to boost outreach and prevention throughout installations. The ultimate goal is to prepare organizations with violence prevention tools to the Air Force over the next several years to reduce power-based personal violence.

“Green Dot was launched in March of 2016 to replace bystander training or sexual assault prevention and response, and has shown through surveys to be more successful, “said Delillo.

Green Dot training involves representing examples of interpersonal violence as well as addressing the scenarios in a crowdsourcing fashion to promote more involvement from the member.

During the training, a map was displayed showing a conglomeration of red and green dots. Red dots represent personal violence and green dots promote safety. The green dots are desired as they represent positive action.

Since March, Delillo has been able to keep the wing at 100% Green Dot compliance, which is a yearly requirement. Throughout the air station, there are several other facilitators to help spread the word.

“The goal is to have green dots all over the base to get people to talk about the program,” said Ms. Kelly Turner, who is the 910th Airlift Wing Drug Demand Reduction Program Manager and Green Dot facilitator.

Green Dots are expected to be displayed throughout the installation included having some painted on the sidewalk outside the Community Activity Center, Delillo said.

“We can only be successful with a personal commitment, then we can all impact numbers if we choose to do so,” said Delillo.

In addition to the Green Dot facilitators, Karen Hazle-Johnson has been added to 910th Airlift Wing Staff as the Specialist for Primary Prevention of Violence.
