The 910th Airlift Wing (AW) safety office is the FY12 Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) Safety Office of the Year according to a memorandum released by Lt. Gen. James Jackson, commander of AFRC, Nov. 19. The 910th AW safety office was also selected for the outstanding achievement award for flight safety.

The citation accompanying the award recognizes the 910th safety office for "promoting Air Force Safety Programs through strong and credible support of contingencies and humanitarian missions around the globe." Their efforts allowed the 910th Airlift Wing to continue its more than 31 years and 146,072 hours of accident-free flying.

"Safety is not just us," said Lt. Col. Perry Sorg, 910th AW chief of safety. "(This award) is a reflection of the entire wing doing their part in safety. The wing has an outstanding track record going back 31 years."

Sorg also attributes the safety office's success to his staff members and bio-environmental and public health personnel.

Brig. Gen. Brian Dominguez, 910th Airlift Wing commander, congratulates Lt. Col. Perry Sorg, 910th Airlift Wing chief of safety, and his team in the safety shop.

"Winning the award for the best Safety office in all of AFRC is quite an accomplishment!" said Dominguez. "Thanks in large part to our safety team's remarkable and tireless effort, the 910th has been able to brilliantly execute many tough, challenging missions without compromising safety."

The 910th Safety Office will represent the command at the Air Force-level competition.
