2012 AFA Outstanding Reserve Unit Award Published Aug. 21, 2012 By Public Affair staff 910AW/PA YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- As the United States celebrates gold medals during the Summer Olympics, the 910th Airlift Wing is celebrating a similar victory in Youngstown, Ohio. The 910th was recently selected as the 2012 Air Force Association's Outstanding Reserve Unit Award winner for Air Force Reserve Command. "What a great honor to be selected for the Air Force Association's Outstanding Reserve Unit Award," said Col. Teresa Hams, Mission Support Group commander. "Our fantastic people are the key to the wing's success. The 910th Airlift Wing Reservists have repeatedly been ready and willing to deploy; and they have received praise from deployed commanders for superior performance. We are so very proud of their accomplishments." Events and actions contributing to the award include the direct support of Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn missions, where the unit earned a 99.3 percent mission effectiveness rating; therefore, receiving the Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit of the month accolade twice during deployment. The 910th also received seven top awards during the Joint Readiness Training Center/Green Flag East exercise while obtaining critical joint training, which enhanced operational readiness for upcoming contingency deployment. Additionally, the Aviation Resource Management team won the 2011 Aviation Resource Management Small Team of the Year for 22nd Air Force for the second year in a row. "We especially want to extend our praise to those we call the 'Mobility Machine,'" Hams said. They are the folks who have helped our military members get out of town when the nation calls, including our logisticians, our civilians and contractors. It truly takes the total team to win a command level award. Thanks also to Reserve family members and civilian employers. Your support is essential. Great job everyone."
