910th Airmen challenged to go green in observance of Earth Day

Earth Day (April 22) is little more than a week away, and the Air Force is challenging every member of the Air Force family to do his or her part to conserve natural resources, minimize waste and prevent pollution.

We've added an Earth Day tab to our website homepage at www.youngstown.afrc.af.mil. Each day until Earth Day, we'll post a new tip on how to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Clicking the Blue Acts of Green graphic will take you to the U.S. Air Force Blue Acts of Green Facebook page where Air Force Airmen and their families can commit to perform an act of green at home and/or work to benefit the environment and prevent pollution or post a comment about what they're already doing to benefit the environment.

In previous years, Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS) has observed Earth Day by hosting base clean-up days and recycling events and planting trees. This year, YARS enters its seventeenth year as a Tree City USA. Tree City USA communities must meet standards established by the Arbor Day Foundation that include having a Tree Board or Department, a Tree Care Ordinance and a community forestry program.
