Davis 910 AW/PA CANFIELD, Ohio -- For many, Memorial Day can simply be a day away from work or school to relax and grill hotdogs and hamburgers with family and friends. But for Canfield residents the holiday means much more. Air Force Reservist Lt .Col. John Boccieri, a command C-130 pilot with the 910th Airlift Wing and former U.S. Congressman, experienced approximately 500 residents gathering around the gazebo to listen to him share remarks about his experience flying in and out of Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Colonel Boccieri shared stories of fallen soldiers and while stressing the importance that Memorial Day is for the living and to remember and honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Following Colonel Boccieri's speech a parade comprised of the Canfield High School marching band and numerous boy scouts, cub scouts and civil war reenactors commenced and continued to a nearby cemetery to lay wreathes at the headstones of the fallen heroes.
