SOUTHINGTON, Ohio -- Air Force Reserve Tech. Sgt. Tom Kocis, an aerial spray maintainer with the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, recieved the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Certificate of Recognition at the OSHP station here, May 17. On Feb. 28, 2011, Sergeant Kocis waded through frigid chest-high water to rescue a 71-year-old woman from her vehicle. The woman lost control of her van on a flooded highway and was washed into a ditch. OSHP Lt. Brian Holt, Warren Post Commander, presented the award on behalf of Col. John Born, OSHP Superintendent.
