910th civilian receives outstanding civilian career service award Published April 12, 2011 910 AW/PA YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- Michelle Kolesar, Information Technology Customer Support Technician, here, retired after 28 years of civil service and received the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award (OCCSA). Kolesar worked for the 910th Communications Flight from 1983 through December 2010. Presented upon retirement in recognition of civilian employees who provided leadership, unusual (level of) competence and noteworthy accomplishments that had a significant impact on the Air Force mission, the OCCSA is similar to the military Legion of Merit (LOM). Kolesar is the first member of the 910th Airlift Wing to receive this award. Kolesar managed a $6,000,000 information technology equipment inventory at YARS. She contributed to the processes and tools used to sanitize computer assets and protect the mission and personal data stored on the devices. She saved thousands of tax dollars by re-allocating technically refreshed computer assets to other government agencies and local schools. She secured vendor supplied warranty maintenance for parts and supplies, providing the base a resource to repair computer equipment at no cost to the government. Kolesar served the larger Air Force Community by volunteering to head the annual Combined Federal Campaign for YARS. She will be missed by the 910th Airlift Wing as her accomplishments continue to provide a foundation for future success.
