The exercise allowed base agencies to meet training and exercise requirements efficiently. Both the base fire department and emergency management personnel participated in the exercise. “The exercise allows the fire department and emergency management personnel to update their currency annually in relation to hazardous chemical handling,” said Lt. Col. John Kochansky, Director of Inspections assigned to the 910th AW. The goal of the exercise was to respond to and recover from a terroristic use of WMD here. “It is important to exercise the base’s capabilities for both anti-terrorism and HAZMAT operations,” said Maj. Paul Hoerig, an emergency management specialist assigned to the 910th Civil Engineer Squadron here. “It was a positive experience for me, because I was able to get used to wearing the equipment and functioning in it.”
