Airman's Attic hosts grand reopening Published Jan. 21, 2015 By Senior Airman Rachel Kocin 910th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- The YARS Airman's Attic hosted its grand reopening here, Jan. 10 and 11, 2014. The Airman's Attic is a place where junior enlisted service members and their families can obtain free, gently used and often brand new, donated household goods. These items are intended to help ease the financial burden young military members often face trying to establish and maintain a household. The Airman's Attic originally opened in August 2014 with basic supplies but expanded in October when YARS leadership determined more inventory items were needed. The Attic's inventory now includes household goods, small appliances, toys, baby items, school supplies, books, clothing and more. The Attic, located in Room 116, Building 112, is open 11 a.m. to 2p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays of 910th Airlift Wing Unit Training Assembly (UTA) weekends to enlisted service members, E-5 and below including their dependents, assigned to YARS. The Attic will also be open to all enlisted service members assigned to YARS twice a year. Donations of household items and more in good working condition are currently being accepted and can be placed in the gray bin in the hallway outside the Attic. The YARS Airman's Attic is located just inside the main entrance of Lodging Building 111, on Spaatz Road, across the street from the Base Exchange and the installation water tower. "This is a huge resource for Airmen," said Mrs. Simona Dignan, YARS Airman's Attic Coordinator and wife of 910th Airlift Wing Commander Col. James Dignan, "especially the ones that are just starting out."
