More than 80 football fans representing the Citizen Airmen of the Air Force Reserve's 910th Airlift Wing, based at nearby Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS), Ohio, along with coworkers, families and friends enjoyed a tailgate picnic on a cool, sunny fall afternoon here, October 11, 2014.

Those who gathered under a large tent enjoyed a meal of hamburgers, chips, beverages and cake donated by the Youngstown Air Reserve Base-Community Council. The USO of Northern Ohio also sponsored the event by covering the cost of the table and chair rental, covering the cost of game tickets for participants of an enlistment ceremony held later during the YSU Penguins football game and providing cornhole games for the event.

The 910th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation Office supported the picnic by providing the towable propane grill and coolers while the YARS Community Activity Center staff assisted by ordering food, plates and more.

After tailgating festivities, the 910th group made their way to YSU's Stambaugh Stadium and witnessed the YSU Penguins 1-AA team fall in a heartbreaker to Missouri Valley Conference rivals, the Western Illinois Leathernecks, 30-24, in the conference home opener.

Between the first and second quarters of the game, Col. James Dignan, 910th Airlift Wing commander administered the oath enlistment to nine Citizen Airmen in an on-field ceremony in front of a  crowd of more than 12,971 Penguins fans.

The 910th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office worked in cooperation with the YSU Athletics Office to sell more than 170 one dollar game tickets, valued at $17 each, to 910th personnel as well as YARS Department of Defense Civilian employees for this community relations outreach event.
