In conjunction with the Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council (BCC), Youngstown Air Partners (YAP), Community Bus Services (CBS) and several local law enforcement agencies and businesses, YARS has released its parking and transportation plan for the Thunder Over the Valley Air Show 2014, May 17-18, here.

Due to limited parking availability at the base and the anticipated large crowds, air show guests must park at designated off-station locations from where they will be shuttled to YARS for the event. These locations include Eastwood Field at the Eastwood Mall shopping complex in Niles and Delphi-Packard Electric Systems (Phantom Fireworks property) on the corner of North River Rd. and Larchmont in Warren. Eastwood Field is located at 111 Eastwood Mall Blvd., Niles, Ohio, 44446. Delphi is located at 165 N. River Rd. NW, Warren, Ohio, 44483.

YAP will provide shuttle service to the station aboard CBS buses. CBS will collect $5 per seat on behalf of YAP to help subsidize the cost of transporting guests to the station. Admission to Thunder Over The Valley is free and open to the public.

"During our last air show, Air Force funds covered the cost of busing. In the current fiscal climate, that is not possible," said Col. James Dignan, 910th Airlift Wing commander. "We are pleased our private sector community partners are able to transport our guests to the air show for a nominal but necessary fee."

The parking areas will open and bus pass sales begin at 8 A.M. on both show days. Shuttle service begins at 8:45 A.M. and the show gates open at 9 A.M. Once parked, show guests will purchase their shuttle ticket, board a bus and be transported to YARS for the show. Air show guests can tune into several local radio stations that will broadcast real-time traffic and parking updates. These stations include: 93.3FM, 95.9 FM, 98.9FM, 106.1FM, 570AM and 1390AM. Additional stations may be added prior to the air show. Bus passes may be purchased from CBS prior to the show, beginning May 12, at the Eastwood Mall.

The shuttles will be available to guests for the duration of the air show. Shuttles transporting guest to the air station will cease operations at 3 p.m. However, shuttles returning guest to parking areas will operate until the show grounds close at 7 P.M. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 11:30 A.M. with the flying performances beginning at 11:45 A.M. Between the gates opening and the opening ceremonies, guests will be able to enjoy static aircraft displays, historic warbird flyovers, RC aircraft performances and much more entertainment.
