Senior Master Sgt. Joann Shaw, Reserve Recruiting Flight Chief, said the new facility provides better access to the area Air Force Reserve recruiters office while maintaining the security of the installation. "A critical part of Air Force Reserve recruiting is availability and location," she said. "Our new building is easily accessible to any potential recruits or those just seeking information about the Air Force Reserve program." Sgt. Shaw, along with 910th Airlift Wing Commander Col. James Dignan, 910th Mission Support Group Commander Col. Teresa Hams, YARS Chief Civil Engineer Bob Woods, Health Professional Recruiter Senior Master Sgt. John Wood, Enlisted Recruiter Master Sgt. Randi Baum and Cleveland Heights Recruiter Master Sgt. Tiffany Grullon, cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of the new and state-of-the-art facility. Sgt. Shaw added that those interested in a career in the Air Force Reserve would be able to visit the center without being escorted onto the air station. "Recruiting is the tip of the spear of the Air Force Reserve. We have the ability to recruit, advertise and provide promotional materials to individuals who do not have access to the base," Sgt. Shaw said. In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, tours were given of the new facility and those attending the event were treated to burgers, chips and drinks courtesy of the Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council. The 910th Transportation Office, Outdoor Recreation, Community Activity Center and Public Affairs Office as well as the YARS Visitor's Center also contributed to the grand opening celebration.
