Davis 910th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- During a warm blue skied sunny day, Reservists and civilian firefighters welcomed 11 residents and staff here Sept. 27, 2013 from Washington Square Health Center in Warren. The guests were given a special tour here to honor war veterans who served from WWII era through Desert Storm. The tour included firefighting demonstrations and a look inside a C-130 Hercules aircraft. One of the guests, Harry Filcorn, 95, shared about his experience as an American POW held captive in Bucharest, Romania during WWII. Another visitor, Toney Sparacino, 88, retired from here in 1983 (formerly known as the 910th Tactical Airlift Group). According to Sparacino, he earned the Silver Star, Purple Heart and several other medals medals while serving in Army European Theater in WWII. The tour wrapped up with wing personnel learning many facts about the veterans as they did about the wing.
