Members of the Air Force Reserve have a chance to recruit new members every time they put on the uniform. Regardless of their job, a potential future Airman sees them. For several years, the Get 1 Now program has been used by members of the Air Force Reserve to recruit new members regardless of job title, but through the use of smart phone technology, the job of recruiting just got easier with the Get 1 Now smart phone application available for all, free of charge.

“People have instantaneous access to the peer referral program through their smart phones,” said Senior Master Sgt. John Wood, flight chief of Recruiting Services here. “Both Reservists and civilian employees of the Air Force Reserve may participate in the program.”

Wood said that the Get 1 Now program now gives awards for referring a qualified lead. Under the original program, people who submitted a qualified lead could only receive awards for accessions, and only after a waiting period.

“E-Recruiters qualify leads and send qualified leads to recruiters who initiate contact with new recruits,” said Wood. “Members under the old system only received credit if someone joined.”

Members pick awards that range from computer accessories to remote controlled drones under the program.

Staff Sgt. Tiffany Ihnot, an air transportation and pack services technician for the 76th Aerial Port Squadron, received a solar powered smart phone charger for her qualified referral to the program.

“I enjoy telling people about the Air Force, that it’s not just all soldiering, that there are opportunities to travel, meet people, as well as serving their country,” said Ihnot.

Air Force Reservists and civilian employees can download the Get 1 Now app by visiting their device’s respective app store and searching “Get 1 Now.”
