Looking back on a tragedy

A memorial placard in front of the 910th Airlift Wing's headquarters building, here, honors Maj. Michael C. Freeman and Capt. Thomas M. Pytel, two unit pilots killed in an A-37 accident. Their aircraft crashed while performing a low-level flying training mission Oct.14, 1972. The memorial sits next to two similar placards honoring other lives lost in unit aircraft accidents.
