910th aerial sprayers battle 'invader' weeds on Utah ranges
UTAH TEST AND TRAINING RANGE, Utah -- Air Force Reserve Maj. Karl Haagsma, a research entomologist assigned to the 910th Aerial Spray Flight, talks with Jeff Rhodes, associate editor of Lockheed Martin's Code One magazine here, March 31. Mr. Rhodes is interviewing Maj. Haagsma and a team of 910th Airlift Wing Citizen Airmen about their mission to apply to more 1200 acres of target areas here from a Lockheed Martin-built C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft. The 910th, based at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, home to the Department of Defense's only large-area fixed wing aerial spray unit, has been tasked, through April 7, with controlling Halogeton, an evasive weed that can hamper bombing test evaluations and unexploded ordinance recovery.
