910 AW tests first AF high-speed deluge system at YARS
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- Air Force Reserve Master Sgt. Roger Anderson, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of munitions for the 910th Maintenance Squadron, points to a High-Speed Deluge System mounted above a work table as he talks with Col. Dale Andrews, 910th Maintenance Group commander, in a munitions processing building here, March 24. Sergeant Anderson and Colonel Andrews were part of a group at the building to watch a test of the new deluge system. The system, the first of its kind installed on an U.S. Air Force installation, is designed to react to an extreme heat source on the table within one hundred milliseconds, or one-tenth of a second, by spraying approximately 300 gallons of water onto the table to extinguish any accidental ignition of munitions to protect personnel and property.
