910 aircrews sharpen survival skills at NAS Key West

NAVAL AIR STATION KEY WEST, Fla. -- Air Force Reserve Capt. Jay Ference, an instruuctor pilot assigned to the 773rd Airlift Squadron, climbs aboard a 20-person life raft as part of the water survival segment during a training course held here, February 21-22. Capt. Ference and a group of Citizen Airmen from the 910th Airlift Wing, based at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio attended the survival training course, conducted by Air Force Reservists assigned to the 439th Operational Support Squadron, to fulifill their annual requirement to refresh the skills needed in case their aircraft would go down over land or water. The coursework included segments covering map reading, compass use, food and water procurement, survival vest use, signaling devices and water survival training. U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
