YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio — An Air Force Reserve C-130 Hercules from the 910th Airlift Wing here receives a load of gifts from around the Youngstown area just before take-off to the jungles of Honduras December 17. A joint effort between the 910th Airlift Wing and the non-profit organization "Mission of Love," of Austintown, Ohio, made this trip possible during this Christmas and holiday season. Approximately 18,000 pounds of supplies including food, beds, toys, and school supplies provided by the local Mahoning Valley community will make a big difference in the lives of an indigenous Indian tribe in Honduras. According to Kathleen Price, founder and director of the Mission of Love, the tribe lives in huts, bathes in streams and lacks the most basic educational tools such as pencils and paper. This mission will be the first of several to Honduras in an effort to supply a hospital and a school. The Air Force Reserve mission was made possible under provisions of the Denton Program which allows private U.S. citizens and organizations to use space available on U.S. military cargo planes to transport humanitarian goods to countries in need.
