YARS co-pilot studies nav charts on airlift mission

SOMEWHERE OVER NORTHERN ITALY -- Air Force Reserve pilot 1st Lt. Ryan Gray studies a navigation chart as he sits in the co-pliot chair on the flight deck of a C-130H Hercules tactical cargo transport aircraft assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing, based at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio. Lieutenant Gray and eight other Citizen Airmen from YARS are flying to Naples Naval Air Station, Italy to pick up 29 passengers and their baggage and deliver them to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Italian coastline on the Ligurian Sea can be seen in the dictance out of the C-130's cockpit windows. The aircrew members flying on this airlift mission are among more than 70 Servicemembers from YARS attached to the 38th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, based at Ramstein. The 38th EAS is supporting Operation Joint Enterprise by providing tactical airlift capability to locations in the U.S. Europe Command (EUROCOM), U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) theaters of operations.
