910th welcomes WWII vet and family for Gift of a Day
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio – Mr. Edward Hitesman, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, talks with Melissa Goudy, his nursing assistant, during a special tour here, Feb. 2, 2014. Hitesman and his family visited YARS at the request of Crossroads Hospice in Green, Ohio as part of the facility’s Gift of a Day program. The program is designed to ask terminal patients, “How do you envision your perfect day?” The hospice then strives to create that image and make it a special day for the patient and their family. The 94-year-old veteran’s idea of a “perfect day” was to spend it at YARS and with the Citizen Airmen of the Air Force Reserve’s 910th Airlift Wing. U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Bob Barko Jr.
