910th welcomes WWII vet and family for Gift of a Day
YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio – Air Force Reserve Lt. Col. John “Chinky” Kochansky, assistant director of operations for the 910th Airlift Wing’s 757th Airlift Squadron, talks with Mr. Edward Hitesman, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and members of the veteran’s family during a special tour here, Feb. 2, 2014. Hitesman’s group visited YARS at the request of Crossroads Hospice in Green, Ohio as part of the facility’s Gift of a Day program. The program is designed to ask terminal patients, “How do you envision your perfect day?” The hospice then strives to create that image and make it a special day for the patient and their family. The 94-year-old veteran’s idea of a “perfect day” was to spend it at YARS and with the Service members assigned here. U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Bob Barko Jr.
