C-130 sortie over Utah Test and Training Range
HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – A modified Air Force Reserve C-130 Hercules tactical cargo aircraft, assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing, conducts aerial spray operations at an altitude of approximately 100 feet above the ground over a target site on the Utah Test and Training Range nearby here, March 18, 2015. The C-130 is flying at the low altitude to control the placement of herbicide onto the selected target areas while conducting a two-week aerial spray mission over UTTR, March 9 – 20, 2015, to eliminate the an unwanted invasive weeds. The 910th, based at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, is home to the Department of Defense’s only large area, fixed wing aerial spray capability.
