YARS, City of Newton Falls team for Vet Park stairs rebuild
Senior Airman Mike Dibble, a Civil Engineer structural engineer, measures a piece of treated lumber on the new staircase leading from the Veteran’s Park to the riverside here, Aug. 25, 2016, while Staff Sgt. Dominick Tami, also a Civil Engineer structural engineer, observes his work. Dibble and Tami are members of a small team from the 910th Civil Engineer Squadron, based at nearby Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS), Ohio, who teamed up with the City of Newton Falls to undertake a three-week project to demolish the existing staircase and design and build the new stairs under Department of Defense’s Realistic Military Training program and the Air Force Community Partnership Program. The program is designed to identify and develop mutually beneficial partnerships between Air Force installations and surrounding communities. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Bob Barko Jr.)
