For emergency response, preparation is paramount
Master Sgt. Monroe Klein, an aircraft maintenance craftsman with the 910th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, directs a Crash Damaged Disabled Aircraft Recovery (CDDAR) team in installing lift bags during a Major Accident Response Exercise (MARE), May 16, 2017. The CDDAR Team is trained to respond following an aircraft accident to stabilize and prepare the aircraft for recovery after emergency responders have secured the scene. The lift bags use air compression to lift the aircraft for further maintenance. The purpose of the exercise, conducted by the Wing Inspection Team and Emergency Management office, was to document response capabilities of installation personnel while honing joint response practices with local agencies including local law enforcement and the American Red Cross.
