Bug docs bring experience from various walks of life

Lt. Col. Karl Haagsma, an entomologist assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing’s 757th Airlift Squadron, disassembles an anemometer (weather meter) Jan. 9, 2019 at the Buckingham Air Field at the Lee County Mosquito Control District facilities in Lehigh Acres, Florida during a Department of Defense aerial spray course. The anemometer was used during an aerial spray demonstration to monitor weather conditions. Haagsma is one of five 910th entomologists whose skills help accomplish the wing’s aerial spray mission to control disease-carrying insects, pest insects and undesirable vegetation and to disperse oils spills in large bodies of water.
