Reservists with the 910th Civil Engineer Squadron deployed to Mississippi June 10-23, 2013 to hone their Air Force skills while helping meet a community need.

Twenty-four 910th Citizen Airmen teamed up with the 555th Red Horse Unit, Nellis AFB, Nev., the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron, Dover AFB, Del. and the 919th Civil Engineer Squadron from Duke Field, Fla. to pour and form approximately 75 yards of concrete in preparation to build an aircraft hangar.

The Airmen completed two concrete pours of equal size during their two-week tour of duty.

"In addition to the preparation and pouring of concrete for the pad to be incorporated into the future Aircraft Hanger, the Airmen improved the structural, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning on an additional building that will eventually be utilized by air crews," said Senior Airman Heather Burge, an Air Reserve Technician with the 910th Civil Engineer Squadron.

The support project was made possible under DoD's Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program. IRT provides real world training opportunities for Service members and units to prepare them for wartime missions while supporting the needs of America's underserved communities.
