YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- Youngstown Air Reserve Station Airmen participated in an Operation Readiness Inspection weapons training and familiarization class Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 here.
This mandatory training class included communications, weapons familiarization and safety.

Master Sgt. Bill McAdoo, 910th Combat Arms Instructor, said it is important for servicemembers to take this class because it not only prepares them for the ORI, but it prepares them for a deployed environment.

"Communications and weapons handling go hand-in-hand when it comes to weapons safety and accountability," McAdoo said.

Airmen used M16 A2 weapons for the training and went over how to disassemble, reassemble and function-check the weapons.

Senior Airman Josh Buckenberger, 910th Combat Arms Instructor, led this portion of the class.

"Weapons safety is the most important part of this training without a doubt," Buckenberger said. "Always clear it!"

The last part of the class included going over the SALUTE report, FPCONs (Force Protection Conditions), Rules of Engagement and challenging intruders.

Staff Sgt. Brian Willaman, 910th Security Forces member, said knowing these aspects of the Airman's Manual is important and can be used in everyday operations and while deployed.

"Knowing these functional areas keeps things running smoothly," Willaman said. "Everyone is an Airman and it is their job to help out."
