YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- The Marine Corps Reserve Landing Support Equipment Company (MCRLSEC) hosted a job fair for veterans and service members Feb. 23 at the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center, here.

Chief Warrant Officer Emiliano DeLeon, Inspector/Instructor with the MCRLSEC, coordinated the event.

"I'm always trying to find jobs for my reservists," said DeLeon. "I look after (more than 100) Reservists, and I'd say about half of them struggle to find jobs."

The event began with a technical workshop and résumé clinic led by Bill Hayslett, Vet Program Manager with the Office of Workforce Development. The job fair welcomed eight local companies from heavy labor, mechanical and trucking industries along with job counselors and representatives from local colleges that offer veterans programs. The companies that attended had openings for approximately 300 new hires. The companies collected résumés and conducted on-sight interviews.

Airman Nasher Algahim, a member of the 910th Security Forces Squadron, attended the event to seek local full-time employment.

"There are a lot of great opportunities here," said Algahim. "I was looking at some of the companies and it's really nice that they're doing this for us."

For service members such as Algahim, the job fair was an opportunity to identify and meet employers eager to hire US military personnel, who may have to spend extended time away from civilian jobs for military duty.

Several local organizations assisted the MCRLSEC with the event by contacting companies for participation, marketing and providing pastries and refreshments for attendees.

Approximately 200 veterans and service members attended the event.
