Ops commander urges Airmen to receive flu shots early Published Nov. 4, 2010 By Col. Craig C. Peters Commander, 910th Operations Group Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio -- It is that time again, time to roll up your sleeves and get your flu shot! For the first time in several years, we have the Flu vaccine available prior to the start of the Flu season. So why get a flu shot? First and foremost, this is for your health. According to a Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) article, this year's flu vaccine protects against three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common this season: 2009 H1N1, H3N2 and influenza B. Obtaining your flu shot is a member responsibility which is paramount to our mobility readiness. The flu vaccine ensures maximum protection of our health and ability to deploy at a moment's notice. In the end, our mobility readiness is what allows us to answer the call in defense of our national interests, be it at home or abroad. I challenge everyone to assemble your wingman and join the Operations Group in attaining a goal of 100 percent compliance by the end of October.
