370 Airmen, family members and friends from the 910th Airlift Wing attended the home opener of the Youngstown State University's 2007 football season. The YSU Penguins were pitted against the South Dakota State University Jack Rabbits at Stambaugh Stadium, also known as the "ice castle" in downtown Youngstown. The YSU Athletic Department treated the group from the 910th to one dollar reserved seat tickets, valued at $14 a piece. The Athletic Department also provided a hospitality tent to the group for pre-game festivities in recognition of the U.S. Air Force's 60th Birthday, which is on September 18, 2007.

The Youngstown Air Reserve Station Base-Community Council, the YARS Eagle's Nest Club, the 910th AW Public Affairs staff, the 910th AW Recruiting staff, the 910th AW Chiefs Group, Chapter 41 of the Reserve Officers Association, the 910th AW Services Squadron and the 910th AW Relay for Life Team participated in preparing for the celebration either by sponsoring, organizing or cooking and serving at the event. The 910th Honor Guard presented the colors along with YSU's Army ROTC and a crew assigned to Youngstown Air Reserve Station performed a flawless C-130 flyover during the pregame festivities. The 910th as well as the USAF's 60th birthday were recognized during an on-field and scoreboard event as 910th AW commander Col. Karl McGregor presented his commander's coin to YSU president Dr. David Sweet as a sign of appreciation for the university's hosting of the USAF birthday bash. The perfect fall night was capped off by a spectacular fireworks display.

While the 910th enjoyed YSU's hospitality off the field, the SDSU Jack Rabbits received a frigid reception at the "ice castle" as they were defeated by the Penguins with a final score of 23-17.
