Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station Airmen participated in a tribute with a national Veteran organization on April 22, 2015, in honor of the U.S. Air Force Reserve Birthday.

Joined by the 914th Airlift Wing Commander Col. Steven Parker and Command Chief Master Sgt. Clint Ronan, Airmen of the 914th Airlift Wing and the local chapter of Team Red White and Blue, a Veteran Outreach organization, ran a cumulative 67 laps at Delaware Park in Buffalo, NY in honor of the 67th Birthday of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

"It was great to see that many people there, including leadership from the base celebrating with us," said Tech. Sgt. Daniel Scott a 914th Airlift Wing Client Systems Technician and Team Red White and Blue Buffalo Chapter Community Outreach Director.

Team Red White and Blue's mission is to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. This was the first time the Buffalo Chapter of Team Red White and Blue partnered with a military unit, with many of the unit's members who are part of Team Red White and Blue.

Meaghan Pacer, the National Team RWB Social Director as well as the Team RWB Buffalo Chapter Social Director, helped organize the joint run with the 914th Airlift Wing and said it was a great honor to run with Reservists to commemorate the U.S. Air Force Reserve Birthday.

While many of the Chapter's members are Veterans or still serving in the military, civilians play a large role in the group.

Citizens like Pacer and Veterans like Scott have been a part of Team RWB for three years now, since the Buffalo chapter inception.

"I became involved because a friend who was deployed told me about Team RWB and knew my interest in helping veterans," Pacer said. "The team has grown from three people locally, when I joined, to over 500 now!" Pacer added. "I truly feel like I am making a difference in the lives of several of our returning heroes."

After the completion of 67 laps, the group held a small celebration for the runners.

This was one of many events that took place this month celebrating the birthday of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

The runners who were involved in this inaugural joint run are planning more events for future partnerships.
