910th Aerial Spray team celebrates Air Force B-Day with help from USO San Antonio
A close up of a cake decorated to celebrate the U.S. Air Force’s 70th Birthday for an impromptu small celebration at the Operations hangar at the Kelly Field Annex here, Sept. 18, 2017. The USO San Antonio presented the cake to a group of more than 90 Reserve Citizen Airmen, assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing based at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, supporting the 910th’s mosquito control aerial spray operations over areas of eastern Texas devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Due to large amounts of standing, polluted water, the numbers of pest insects are increasing significantly. This situation is impacting first responders and recovery workers as clean-up and repair efforts continue. Since Sept. 9, 2017, the 910th has treated more than two million affected acres for mosquito control purposes at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
