  • Breaking Barriers: AF Reserve's first 4-star

    Lt. Gen. Maryanne Miller, commander of the Air Force Reserve Command, will become the first Reserve Citizen Airman in the history of the Air Force Reserve to pin on a 4th star. Miller was nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate for promotion to the rank of General on August 20, 2018.

    Master Sgt. William Unverdorben, 387th Air Expeditionary Squadron special handling section joint inspector a member of the Quick Reaction Team, deployed from the 910th Airlift Wing, 76th Aerial Port Squadron, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, was recognized as a Rock Solid Warrior Aug. 6, 2018, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. The Rock Solid Warrior program recognizes the top performing Airmen from the base.
  • Ohio 14th District Rep visits YARS

    U.S. Congressman David Joyce, Ohio’s 14th District, visited Youngstown Air Reserve Station’s new Combat Arms Training and Maintenance firing range on Aug. 8, 2018. Due to a scheduling conflict, Joyce was unable to attend the new CATM firing range’s recent ribbon cutting ceremony, but still wanted to come to YARS to see the state-of-the-art firing range designed to enhance the 910th Security Forces Squadron’s mission capability. The congressman also received an update on the 910th Airlift Wing’s mission, priorities and future projects.

    Munitions specialists assigned to the 910th Maintenance Squadron spent annual training with their 307th MXS counterparts handling, transporting and storing Bomb Dispenser Unit-50 low drags at the 307th MXS munitions storage facility on Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
  • 76th APS hosts the 76er Skills Challenge

    The 76th Aerial Port Squadron holds the 76er competition annually as a fun way to train. The competition consists of six parts: a hundred question test, a pallet build up, a 10K forklift obstacle course, a 25K Halverson obstacle course, a team physical training course, and an simulated Engine Running Onload/Offload of a C-130H Hercules.
  • 910th AW/FM supports customers and counterparts at Ramstein

    Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 910th Airlift Wing Financial Management Office supported the 86th Comptroller Squadron July 6-19 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The Youngstown Air Reserve Station Airmen spent 14 days on temporary duty orders supplementing and training with their active duty counterparts in the Military Pay and Travel Customer Service Office at RAB.

    Lt. Col. Robert Wengerter, the commander of the 910th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was in charge of the 910th Airlift Wing Reserve Citizen Airmen who spent annual training in Germany. Wengerter embodied his own rule “Work hard, play hard” by dusting off his old enlisted “Dirt boy” training and hopping in a motor grader to level off a beaten up path on the 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron's yard.

    Civic leaders in the area of Youngstown, Ohio attend a Civic Leader Tour hosted by the Youngstown Air Reserve Station. The participants flew aboard a C-17 Globemaster III to Colorado Springs, Colorado and visited the U.S. Air Force Academy and learned about a variety of Air Force missions.
