Youngstown Air Reserve Station’s Retiree Activities Office Director Cindy Cox hosted the first Retiree Activities Day in ten years at the installation’s Community Activities Center, Oct. 26, 2018.

“My office covers all branches of service,” said Cox. “Four to Five times a year I email a newsletter on all the changes in retiree support and benefit programs. Retiree Activities Day is a way to gather retiree emails and distribute information on program changes in person.”

Retirees were welcomed to YARS by Col. Dan Sarachene, the commander of the 910th Airlift Wing.

“I’m the first speaker and probably the least important speaker here today,” said Sarachene with a grin. “There’s going to be a lot of good information here today. You’ve earned all these benefits please take advantage of them. Welcome to Youngstown Air Reserve Station, thank you for your service.”

Program representatives talked about TRICARE, Veterans services, eBenefits, disability claims, VA health benefits and Social Security.

Cox plans to reestablish Retiree Activities Day as an annual event.
