910th supports Toys for Tots drive Published Nov. 2, 2019 By Senior Airman Juliet Louden 910th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOUNGSTOWN AIR RESERVE STATION, Ohio -- The 910th Airlift Wing kicked off its annual campaign to collect toys in support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program in October at Youngstown Air Reserve Station. The Detachment 3 Maintenance Company operates from the Navy Operational Support Center Youngstown at YARS, and spearheads local Toys for Tots efforts each year. The primary goal of the program is to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children, through the gift of a new toy. Col. Joe Janik, the commander of the 910th Airlift Wing, loves to see the unit support the program. “The 910th is honored to work with our Marine brethren to support the Toys for Tots program,” said Janik. “We have the opportunity to support our community and help ensure all children living in the Mahoning Valley get a present for Christmas.” Those with base access can drop off new and unwrapped toys at donation box sites located at the wing headquarters building and the base exchange until Dec. 11, 2019. Public donation sites can be found at the Toys for Tots website: www.toysfortots.org. Last year, the local campaign distributed 31,750 toys, impacting more than ten thousand children in need.
